B/X Stonehell Dungeon, Session 14, Sept 18, 2021

Dramatis Personae: Benji Boggins, Halfling, accompanied by his war dog, Kiwi  Norton, Magic User, probably uses a red Swingline stapler as a focus.  NPCs: Banfiz, elf  Gort of the Shining Force, Cleric Mik Enkopolo, Torchbearer and Caddy  The party returned to the third level of Stonehell. The neglected to buy a care package for Coal, and thus had no rerolls available. Oh well.  The came to an area that contained a large number of domiciles. Benji, contrary to his inclination, decided listening at the doors was a better idea than just barging in and blundering into who knows what.  At the first door, Benji hears rustling. Bursting in, they find a couple of large snakes! These snakes are highly venomous, but seemed disinterested in the party, and merely went about their business. The process was repeated for the giant centipedes (also venomous) in the next room. More snakes in the third room reacted threateningly, and Benji remembered that “snakes is good eatin’” and charged in to score

Dramatis Personae: Izzie the Thief Benji the Halfling  NPCs Banfiz the Elf Gort the Cleric  Mik the Torchbearer  At the kennel on vacation: Kiwi, Benji’s War Doggo  The party entered the third level via the secret stairs and headed east. They discovers a room with a carving of a female dwarf serving drinks to warriors. Etched under the carving is the name “Gudren”, and the party discovered that uttering the name while touching the carving fills one’s empty containers with fine mead! At least they won’t die thirsty or sober down here.  Another room contained a chanting statue, and an altar with a statue of a honey badger on it. Saying “Badger” (Badger Badger Badger?) in dwarfish caused a stairway down to level four to be revealed. Bravely, the heroes decided to descend down the stairs, where they found themselves in the effective “basement” of the dwarven temple above. Adjoining was the inner sanctum, which they profaned by entering. The resident dwarven Wraith took exception to their

Dramatis Personae: Benji Boggins, Halfling, accompanied by his war dog, Kiwi  Isabella diSarono, Thief Norton, Magic User, probably uses a red Swingline stapler as a focus.  NPCs: Gort of the Shining Force, Cleric Buffalo Head, Fighter Mik Enkopolo, Torchbearer and Caddy  It appeared Banfiz needed a vacation, and was nowhere to be found, so the party was down a magic-user. Fortunately, the Bog Standard is a busy tavern, and before too long Izzie and Benji spotted a likely  sucker  ally for their upcoming delve, in the form of a magic-user named Norton. To say that he was mild mannered and meek was a gross understatement. How could such a person survive the dangers of dungeoneering? Would he prove to be made of sterner stuff? To break in/haze their new recruit, they decided to explore more of the valley leading to Stonehell. This area is comparatively well-travelled and picked over, making it safer than the dark depths of the dungeon. After leaving an offering for Coal the Black Bear

Dramatis Personae: Benji Boggins, Halfling, accompanied by his war dog, Kiwi  Isabella diSarono, Thief NPCs: Gort of the Shining Force, Cleric Banfiz, Elf  After making the obligatory offering to Coal the Black Bear, the party headed down to level two, and went to the site of previous delve’s massacre. It was still abandoned, so the party headed north, only to find a whole whack of nothing except a spear trap that Izzy narrowly avoided being impaled by. Disappointed, the retraced their steps and headed back south.  Further exploration showed that there are more inmates still living in this area of the dungeon, who apparently didn’t recognize Izzy, or were not present at the battle. They were reasonably friendly, even sharing a meal with the party, and giving them some intel about a purported vampire.  They then found a secret door (thanks to Banfiz’s elven senses) leading to a long forgotten room, containing a straitjacket-clad skeleton (non-animated) with a locket tucked inside tge

Dramatis Personae: Capt. Jane Bridgers, Cleric, bearer of the Holy Q-tip of healing.  Isabella Disarono, Thief extraordinaire.  NPCs:  Mik the torchbearer Lindt, fighter Banfiz the Elf  The party descended into Stonehell again, this time bypassing the first level as much as possible, as they had sufficient firepower to delve deeper: both Jane and Isabella are very well armed and armoured.  Izzie insisted on returning to the room of darkness and have Lightbringer dispel it. This was successful, but nothing else of interest was found in there. The silence was not dispelled, however.  Heading south, the came across and old dormitory with nothing but a severed, skeletal hand with a mundane but nice ring on it.  They also encountered a group of kobolds at the cistern room, gathering fresh water for the inmates. They ply one of them for information, greasing the wheels of diplomacy with coin, gaining some intel.  Further south they encountered a group of said inmates attempting to rather uns

Dramatis Personae: Izzie the Thief Benji the Halfling  NPCs Banfiz the Elf Gort the Cleric  Mik the Torchbearer  Kiwi, Benji’s War Doggo  The party spent some time at the Bog Standard, trolling for rumours, and didn’t learn anything new. Since they had “time” (wait for it!) they went to see Garfunkel the “Sage” (damn I’m good) for intel on Malfreces, who came through town a while back. Some kind of “Undead Whisperer”, apparently.  The party wasn’t feeling particularly brave, so rather than pressing on to the second level, they decided to try to find Malfreces in the Quiet Halls. They didn’t find him, but they found something, and were also themselves found by others:  They came upon a room, the walls and floor of which flickered with undulating black and purple flames which crisscrossed back and forth across the chamber. Gort identified it as Balefire. The room also contained a stone dais topped with a chest, a target too tempting for the PCs to think too deeply about how to proceed.

B/X Stonehell Dungeon, Session 8. March 6, 2021

Dramatis Personae: Benji Boggins, a halfling who apparently drinks poisons for fun Isabella Disarono: a thief who has become strangely risk averse, in contrast to her ego Captain Jane Bridgers, Weilder of the Holy Q-tip, the divine staff of bonk-healing  NPCs: Buffalo Head, Minotaur fighter Lindt, fighter The party made the obligatory offering to Coal, the Black Bear of the Valley,    garnering a re-roll for each character before braving the depths of Stonehell.  Despite Izzie’s record haul from delving into the second level, she cautioned against the party delving there this session, so they ventured into the Quiet Halls, secure in Jane’s ability to Turn Undead to keep them from a TPK.  They opened one crypt, which had a good number of skeletons in it. Jane Turned most of them, and the party started to take them down one by one. All did not go according to plan, as Benji decided to play ro sham bo with one of them, and was knocked out with a natural 20 (full damage). Fortunately, Jane
